3 Reasons to Spend the Howl-idays at Great Wolf Lodge

Dallas Moms Blog received a complimentary stay at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine to write this review. All opinions are 100% my own!

School is officially in full swing and the day-to-day routines are starting to become…well…a little tiresome. I’m already anxiously awaiting the days of Thanksgiving and Winter Break when alarms can be turned off, battles of what to wear to school come to a temporary stop, and lunches aren’t thrown together before walking out the door.

A few weeks ago my family got to escape to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine for a few nights and we discovered it was the perfect “school year” escape for our family of 5. Tis’ the season for pumpkins, goblins, and Howl-o-ween, but pretty soon it’ll be converted into a winter Snowland! No matter what the season, here’s 3 reasons you should consider a holiday getaway to Great Wolf Lodge with your family.

1. All Your Favorite Activities All Under One Roof

Throughout the day, there are all kinds of free events taking place from parades to dance parties. Great Wolf Lodge does a fabulous job of bringing all the fun to you and all under one roof. Without having to leave the Lodge, our kids were able to dress up in their favorite costumes and go floor to floor trick-or-treating collecting fun prizes and treats at every stop. We’d end our days on the first level for “Story Time” – wearing our costumes or jammies to take photos with our favorite Great Wolf Lodge Characters.

We can’t wait to go back this November & December when Great Wolf Lodge will incorporate some of the same fun activities into a magical winter wonderland experience including North Pole University & Santa visits.

2. You Don’t Have To Worry About the Texas Seasons

This time of year can be difficult for kids and parents not knowing what the weather might bring. Will it be rainy or sunny? Will it be 80 degrees or 50 degrees? Should our costumes be extra thick to keep warm or light and airy to avoid sweating too much. Since you never have to leave the lodge during your stay, you find the weather isn’t a concern during your stay!

And a perk you won’t find anywhere else, you can even ignore the season and pretend it’s summer! Bring your swimsuits and have all the fun in the temperature-controlled indoor waterpark. There are several separate play areas designed for various age groups all the way down to toddlers. All pools are kept at a warm 84 degrees all year long and since the waterpark is kept in a separate area, the air temperature is also easy to maintain and regulate to avoid anyone from shivering when they get out of the water.

3. There’s Downtime For The Parents

One of the most appreciated aspects of the Lodge is the care they put into making sure every member of the family is having a great time — even the parents. Great Wolf Lodge offers a variety of ways for kids to be kids but also let the adults can be adults.

Every night from 7-9:30pm, a PJ Party is offered in the Cub Club, and this party is exclusively for children 4 – 12 years old. They bring out the crafts and snacks, and provide kids a VIP seating to Story Time.  The best part is, NO PARENTS ALLOWED! There is an additional cost of $35 for the first child and $20 for each additional sibling, but once you’re relaxing at the Elements Spa Salon or enjoying a quiet dinner at the Lodge Wood Fired Grill, you’ll see it is well worth the price!

At the end of a long day, parents can also treat themselves to a “Wine Down” service. All you have to do is decide what you’re craving (salty, sweet, late night snack, or something light), let room service know before 8pm, and they’ll deliver a small spread of delicious foods and a wine pairing for you to enjoy AFTER the kiddos are asleep.

This was my family’s first time at Great Wolf Lodge Grapevine and my family is already talking about going back again. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
