4th of July Fireworks & Festivities Guide for Dallas Parents

Did you know 4th of July festivities sometimes start the weekend before Independence Day? Were you aware that most fireworks can be seen throughout the metroplex without having to pay admission fees?

Whether you’re new to Dallas or looking for a new spot to check out a spectacular view, we hope you’ll find this (almost) complete list of Independence Day Celebrations helpful! All events are listed by DATE and then by the CITY, and then TITLE.

While we realize we probably don’t have them all, we hope you’ll help us add to the list be sharing in the comments below so other families can find this post a helpful resource!

Saturday, June 24th

Main Street Allen USA Celebration

The City of Allen & Market Street will once again host their Fourth of July Allen USA Celebration at Celebration Park. Admission is free; however tickets (2 for $1) and wristbands ($25) are required for the Kid Zone.

HINT: Kid Zone tickets can be purchased in advance at Joe Farmer Recreation Center and Rodenbaugh Natatorium for only $20!

Celebrate the Fourth with live music from local talents starting at 4pm and the Emerald City Band will be taking the stage at 8:30pm.

The Fireworks Finale will take place at 10:05pm.

Free Shuttle Buses will run from Allen High School starting at 3:30pm, and will make their last run at 11pm.

 

Saturday, July 1st

Independence Day Celebration – Forney

This is a free family event (except for food and drinks).  Event begins at 6pm at the Forney Community Park Soccer Complex. Fireworks begin around 9:30pm.  There will be FREE train rides, games for the kids, a giant slide, activities and food vendors.

Liberty by the Lake – The Colony

Start the Fourth of July at with the Liberty 5K, 10K, or 1 mile Fun Run at Liberty on the Lake! This family friendly event begins at 7:45am and is followed by a hometown Independence Day Parade (10am) complete with floats and marching bands.

Throughout the day Liberty by the Lake will host all-American events like the Watermelon Eating Contest, Salsa Shootout, and Wakeboarding competition. Families are encouraged to stop by the Family Fun Zone which includes a zip line, bounce houses, obstacle courses, toddler area, train ride, face painters and much more!  Don’t miss the fun!

The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:30pm.

Monday, July 3rd

Kaboom Town – Addison

Named #2 fireworks display in the country by Yahoo.com, Addison is opening up their Circle once again to the public for an incredible fireworks show. The Independence Day celebration features world-class fireworksfood, and live music, plus an incredible Addison Airport Air Show.  Afterwards, attendees are invited to enjoy an after-party featuring Emerald City on the Dos Equis Main Stage.

Addison is NOT requiring advanced tickets this year; however, over 1 million people are expected to be in or around Addison Circle during Kaboom Town. If you’re not up for this type of traffic, you’re able to view these fireworks from several spots throughout the city –including parking lots around Montfort & Belt Line and Galleria Dallas parking garage. Star-Spangled Spectacular at Firewheel Town Center – Garland

Families will enjoy face painters, balloon artists, bounce houses, strolling entertainment and more during Star Spangled Spectacular. Additionally, 92.1 HANK FM will be onsite with games and giveaways for lucky attendees.The event will culminate with a patriotic fireworks display sponsored by the City of Garland at 9:15 p.m.

Free and open to the community – Family Fun Activities take place from 4 pm – 8 pm,  Main Stage Entertainment from 7 pm – 9 pm,  and Fireworks display begins at 9:15 p.m.

Independence Day Celebration – Farmers Branch

A spectacular fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:30 pm and is accompanied by a great, lively band on stage (Inside Out Band) beginning at 6:45 pm. There will be a FREE kid zone area, concessionaire’s selling festival favorites, pie eating contest, and more!

Admission & Parking are Free.  Lawn seating is first come, first serve! (You can rent a Chair for only $2 if you don’t want to bring your own.)

Lone Stars & Stripes Celebration – Grand Prairie

Lone Star Park is hosting one of the biggest bashes this 4th with live racing and activities for the whole family and this year they’re doing it TWICE! Kids can enjoy the extended Family Fun Park with tons of activities including pony rides, a petting zoo, bounce houses, carnival games and a rock climbing wall!

Live thoroughbred races will begin at 3pm on both July 3rd and July 4th, and families are encouraged to stay for a 20 minute fireworks show choreographed to music starting at 10pm.

 

Tuesday, July 4th

Fourth of July – Arlington

If you’d like to kick off Independence Day with a good old-fashioned parade, head to Downtown Arlington for their 50th Fourth of July Parade Anniversary. Catch candy from a float, and wave flags to the marching bands, vintage cars, color guards, clowns and VIPs! Study the parade route for a good spot or leave a comment below! 

Festivities start at 9:00 a.m.

Dallas Athletics Club – Dallas

The fireworks show starts on the 4th at sundown.  The show is limited to members, but non-members can easily see the spectacle along La Prada Drive.

Dallas Country Club – Dallas

Fireworks begin at sundown.  The show is only open to members, but non-members can find spots to watch the show at Highland Park Village or along Beverly Drive.

Lakewood 4th of July – Dallas

This classic neighborhood parade winds thru Lakewood and ends at Winstead and Tokolan with refreshments and music.  The parade starts at 10am

Lakewood Country Club – Dallas

Fireworks start at sundown.  While the spectacle is only open to club members, the Whole Foods parking lot is the best place for non-members to set up and see the show.  Get there early for a place to sit and let Whole Foods feed your family with burgers and more during the evening.

Fair Park Fourth – Downtown Dallas

The City of Dallas, Friends of Fair Park and the State Fair of Texas invite everyone to celebrate America with a day of family fun at the City of Dallas’ official Independence Day celebration, Fair Park Fourth.

Enjoy live music, water features and access to rides, games and concessions within the State Fair of Texas Midway, starting at noon ($5 advanced admission; $7 at the door). Admission to the public will be free at 6 p.m. Music and Food Trucks will be available throughout the Park starting at 6pm, plus a spectacular fireworks show at approximately 9:30 p.m–which can be viewed inside the Cotton Bowl, on the Midway, or at various locations throughout the Park. Parking $10 and is available at Gates 5 & 6.

Texas Discovery Gardens, the Children’s Aquarium, the African American Museum, and Hall of State will also be open for extended hours with discounted admission.

Dallas Wind Symphony’s Star Spangled Specatular – Downtown Dallas

Bring the whole family to join the Dallas Wind Symphony in our annual parade of patriotic favorites which includes an incredible display of “indoor fireworks” starting at 1pm. There’s nothing more patriotic than an old-fashioned red, white and blue band concert on Independence Day.

Park Cities 4th of July Parade – Dallas

Get here early as this neighborhood parade fills the streets fast. The parade starts at 9am on Euclid Ave. and ends at Goar Park on Turtle Creek Blvd. with a festival of music, food, and children’s activities.  See the complete parade route here.

Fourth of July Extravaganza – Grapevine

At 9:30 p.m., celebrate America’s birthday at Grapevine’s 35th Annual July 4th Fireworks Extravaganza! Be prepared to be astonished by the fireworks spectacular, which can be viewed from almost any lakeside location as well as several other places throughout Grapevine including Gaylord Texan Resort’s parking garage (with a parking fee), Oak Grove Park, Katie’s Woods Park, Acorn Woods Park, and Rockledge Park.

Admission is free at most viewing locations.

Warning: Some parks along Lake Grapevine may charge an admission fee of $5 to $10 per vehicle. These fees aren’t controlled by Grapevine.

Independence Fest – Flower Mound

Headlined by Brothers Osborne, Independence Fest 2017 will continue to build on the success of previous years to be a great day of celebration, and as always, admission and parking are FREE

The Children’s Parade will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the LISD School Administration Building; with line-up beginning at 9:30 a.m.  

Independence Fest 2017 will also host a vintage car show, a showcase of our local businesses, food and drinks for the whole family, and a completely FREE Kid’s Zone complete with bounce houses, face painting, and more. 

Freedom Fest – Frisco

Frisco Freedom Fest 2017 will feature a wide variety of family activities for Party in the Plaza starting at 4pm. The Children’s Expo will have bounce houses, zip lines, rock climbing wall, and hamster ball races. The plaza will host local entertainers and feature the Frisco police and firefighters. In addition, the Taste of Frisco will serve food items from several restaurants around town.

Beginning at 10:00 (approximately) families will see one of the largest fireworks shows in North Texas; visible in all areas around the Toyota Stadium. Know of other great watching spots? Leave a comment below!

 

The Lake Cities Fourth of July – Lake Dallas

The Lake Cities 4th of July is a spectacular, one-of-a-kind celebration.  This annual tradition unites communities in celebration of our Nation’s birth.  The festivities begin with a patriotic parade at 9am followed by music, food, contests, vendors, carnival rides and other activities the whole family can enjoy.  The day is brought to a close with a fireworks display that will dazzle and delight.

Red, White, and Boom – McKinney

The City of McKinney celebrates the Fourth of July at Red, White and BOOM! with free family activities, live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks show. 

Red, White and BOOM! kicks off Independence Day with a parade and classic car, truck and cycle show in Historic Downtown McKinney. Families can also explore the many dining and shopping options that downtown has to offer. 

Evening festivities resume at the McKinney Soccer Complex at Craig Ranch with music, food, kids’ activities and a fireworks display. 

All-American Fourth – Plano

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and the whole family to help celebrate Independence Day at Plano’s All-American Fourth at the Oak Point Park & Nature Preserve starting at 5pm! Spectacular fireworks can be seen as the show is choreographed to music and simulcast on 97.5 KLAK beginning at 9:30pm.

Admission is Free.

Lions Club Independence Day Parade – Plano

The Lions Club of Plano will once again host their Fourth of July parade beginning at 9am. The parade will start at Vines High School on Independence Parkway & 15th and will end at Plano Senior High School (North of Park).

Family 4th of July – Richardson

Sparks will fly at the City of Richardson’s annual “Family 4th Celebration” at Breckinridge Park. This traditional, patriotic salute is free and open to the entire community. Attendees are encouraged to bring picnics, blankets and/or lawn chairs and enjoy the evening under the stars!

Attractions include bounce houses, and a climbing wall for the kids! This year, the Star Spangled Safety Event aims to make the citizens of Richardson aware of Fire Safety, Crime Prevention and Emergency Preparedness through the means of information pamphlets, goody bags for children, and family fun with a fire truck slide and police car bounce house.

Beginning at 6 p.m.,  the City of Richardson will provide free round-trip shuttle service from the Rockwell-Collins International Campus (located at the SE corner of Renner and Shiloh roads). The last shuttle will depart at approximately 9:15 p.m. 

Fireworks on Main – Rowlett

Rowlett’s largest Fireworks show takes place on Main St in Downtown Rowlett. Plan now to celebrate freedom with friends and family as you enjoy live music by Grand Theft Auto and The Bellamy Brothers, festival style foods, children’s activities (bounce houses and face painting) vendor booths, and more!

Events will take place between 6pm-10pm.
