There’s no way we could ever include all the exciting family-friendly events in Dallas! (Psst! Instead, we’ve curated a list promising adventures just right for you and your family.

The summer months can be sweltering but those temps can make for great water play, indoor fun and late nights. From milk and cookies story time to Adventures with Flat Stanley; here are our picks for kid-friendly July events in Dallas.July 2015 Dallas Moms Guide

July 1 :: Check out a FREE Music Together Dallas class at the Forest-Park Library. Join them for a FREE, mixed-aged Music Together class for families. You will get to experience the wonderful approach to early childhood and family music! Family friendly musical activities include sing-alongs, finger-plays, instrument play, dance, and lullabies. Come discover how much fun making music with your child can be!

July 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 :: As part of their summer programs, visit the Dallas Museum of Art and find fun activities in the galleries during the Wednesday Series: Pop-Up Art Spot! Find the Pop-Up Art Spot on Level 3 in July and take a creative break in the galleries! Stop by to find fun activities for all ages at the Pop-Up Art Spot cart.

July 2 :: It’s the last of the Thursday Twilight Series in downtown Denton. Bring your friends and family, get a meal-to-go from one of the many downtown eateries, bring a blanket or chairs, and enjoy an evening of great live music as the sun sets over downtown Denton.  The 2015 series offers an eclectic assortment of music for all listeners.  Thursday Twilight Tunes is the perfect way to kick off the weekend early and listen to some of the best local bands in the Denton area.

July 2 & 30 :Go on a Owl Prowl with your littles at the Trinity River Audubon Center! Bring the whole flock out to learn a bit about these amazing and mysterious birds of the night. We’ll learn to call owls, learn ways to attract owls to your yard, and make your community more owl-friendly. Learn about the owls that call Dallas home and study owl anatomy, hunting techniques, and their amazing powers of sight and hearing. Join us – we’re sure to have a hoot!

July 3 :: It’s one of the best firework and flight shows in the country! Pack up the family and head for Addison KABOOM Town. With over 1,500 pounds of fireworks, it is the largest fireworks display in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex. The celebration features an air show, sponsored by the Cavanaugh Flight Museum and Addison Airport, which includes historic warplanes completing flyovers over the park. July 4 :: Nothing better than an Old Fashioned Fourth and the Dallas Heritage Village hosts one of the best. Deck your family out in red, white and blue, grab your picnic basket and celebrate our nation’s past. Explore the Village and chat with costumed characters. Bring a red wagon, decorate it at the craft station and enter in the patriotic parade. Everyone is invited to join the parade, led by beloved Mammoth Jack Donkeys Nip and Tuck, who will also give morning wagon rides. Test your modern skills against a variety of Victorian era games, including the Junior Historian Carnival and its famous Stick Pony Race. Play historic games like graces or join a mini-checkers tournament. July 5, 12, 19 & 26 :: A chance hone miniature musical ears: a free indoor concert in July? We’re totally sold the 35th annual Basically Beethoven Festival! All concerts are FREE TO THE PUBLIC. Paid parking is available in surface lots and garages in the Dallas Arts District. Families with children are welcome.

July 5, 19, & 26 :: Round out your weekend by kicking back (or dancing like crazy) to Summer Jams with DJ Patrick Doolin at Kylde Warren Park. Spinning  70’s Disco, 80’s Retro, 90’s dance, & Top 40 Hits, he’ll get little feet movin’ and grooving’!

July 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 :Dallas Children’s Theater Presents: The Adventures of Flat Stanley is back from a whirlwind musical travelogue across the United States! Stanley is a normal 10-year-old boy—too normal, if you ask him. His wish for adventure is granted when a bulletin board flattens Stanley, enabling him to mail himself all around the world! Stanley—the ultimate exchange student—scours the globe, visiting Paris, Los Angeles, Hawaii, and more! In this heartwarming musical adventure, Stanley learns that there is no place like home. Purchase tickets by clicking here.

July 10 – 26 :: The 20th Annual Parade of Playhouses is back at NorthPark Center; featuring 16 imaginative children’s playhouses on display and available for raffle to benefit Dallas CASA. Visitors to NorthPark will have the chance to purchase raffle tickets to win one of the houses designed and constructed by local architects, home designers, corporations and organizations.

July 10 :: The New Rainforest Adventure is now open at SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium! The new permanent exhibit takes guests to the lush environment of the world’s rainforests where they will encounter brand new species to SEA LIFE, including caimans, piranha, pythons and more. The five-gallery display replaces the freshwater lakes exhibit and spotlights a variety of animals native to the Amazon River basin. Unique features include a piranha walk-through tunnel, a domed pop-up window in the middle of the snake habitat, and newly renovated touch tanks with coldwater invertebrates.

July 14 :: Bastille on Bishop. La Belle Vie! Celebrate all things French — mussels competition, outdoor markets, wine tastings, Vespa rally, crepe stands, petanque courts, french music, dancing and more will take over 3 blocks of the historic Bishop Arts District in the Oak Cliff region of Dallas, Texas.

July 16 :: Dallas Moms Blog is partnering with DFW Child for a fun playdate at Kidville Dallas! Make sure to check back with DallasMomsBlog.org for all the details! 

July 17, 24, & 31 :: Grab your suit and a bucket popcorn? That’s right, it’s Dive-in Movie Night at NRH2O Water Park! Float in the wave pool or relax on the beach with your family, while watching your favorite movie under the stars on a movie screen suspended across the wave pool. Movies begin at dusk. Screening include Big Hero 6, Frozen and Toy Story. General Admission is required to gain entrance into the waterpark.

July 18 :: Hit up the Texas Heritage Festival being held at the Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Refuge which will feature toe-tappin’, knee-slappin’ Western music, local artisans, historical demonstrations, and interactive children’s activities (like “cow patty” tossing!) You can also rustle up some tasty Texas grub, say “Howdy” to our resident wildlife ambassadors, and explore the Native Texas Butterfly Garden. The young-ins will love exploring the Heard’s Pioneer Village, comprised of eight pint-sized buildings typical of prairie settlements in the late 1800s–such as a school house, general store, and settlers’ cabins!

July 18 :: It’s Moon Day! Celebrate with a visit to the Frontiers of Flight Museum. Kids can meet an astronaut, build and launch their own rockets and even earn badges!

July 19 :: Parents and kids can experience art together during Family Fun Days at the Irving Art Center. These hands-on art days give parents and children projects they can co-create, far from daily distractions. Find inspiration in the gallery exhibitions, holidays and seasons as families make art, friends and fun.

July 25 :: Head for the Ginsberg Family Great Lawn at Klyde Warren Park for a little musical petting zoo with the School of Rock.

July 25:: Reunion Tower hosts the newest summer music series in Dallas. The last Saturday of every month through September, Reunion Lawn will play host to regional musicians, Dallas’ best food trucks and craft beer, as well as lawn games such as bocce ball, hula hoops, bubbles and more. This FREE event is for the whole family. Music starts at 6:00 pm, check out the website for the lineup.

July 26 :: Catch The Little Mermaid over at one of the coolest theater shows in Dallas—Geppetto’s Marionette Theater. See the story of The Little Mermaid told as a European-styled marionette play, with over 60 carved marionettes and other puppets including shadow puppets, black light puppets, trick marionettes and other special surprises.

July 31 :: It’s Scout Discount Day! Bring your scouts and brownies to the Dallas Arboretum today! Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Brownies and Cubs wearing their scarves receive free admission, plus 50% off for their families, up to 4 members.
