Dallas Moms’ Tried and True Thanksgiving Recipes

1

Remember when the only stress associated with Thanksgiving was figuring out how you could convince your mom to let you have a double helping of pecan pie after you had already stuffed your face with turkey and dressing?

Thanksgiving is one of our favorite holidays, notwithstanding the insanity of hosting your family and prepping/cooking/cleaning for days on end. Even if you’re not hosting, it can be stressful figuring out what you can cook that will be sure to please everyone at the table.

Since it’s about that time again, and you’re probably already starting to plan your Thanksgiving feast, we polled our contributors and compiled a list of Dallas’s tried and true Thanksgiving recipes. Here’s what our Dallas moms will be cooking up this year!

Kid Kraddick’s Brown Bag Turkey

If you’ve lived in Dallas for very long, you knew and loved Kidd Kraddick, Dallas’s beloved radio D.J. who passed away unexpectedly a few years ago. His true legacy will, of course, be his nonprofit foundation, Kidd’s Kids, which is devoted to sending chronically and terminally ill children to Disney World every year. But his brown bag turkey recipe is also pretty famous. Give it a try! And, for a bonus, give Kellie Rasberry’s mama’s Macaroni and Cheese and Peppered Corn a whirl.
