Father’s Day “Experience” Gifts in Dallas!

There are so many great gifts out there for dads, but if you are feeling like he has too many things, and want to give him something he can do, I’ve got some great father’s day “experience” gift options.

Grilling Class!

Premier Grilling in Frisco has several classes that would be great for a Fathers’ Day gift, many of them taught by local grillmasters and chefs. They have a Big Green Egg class, too. The classes are usually held on Saturdays from about 10 am – 2pm and cost between $125-150. Book a class online or visit the store to buy a gift certificate.

Guided Duck Hunt

Hidden Lakes Hunting Resort in Yantis, Texas offers guided half-day bird hunts starting at $300 per person, full-day hunts starting at $6oo, and overnight packages starting at $425. This would be a fantastic gift to go in together with some of his friends’ wives!

Richard Petty Driving School at Texas Motor Speedway

He doesn’t have to be a NASCAR fan to enjoy the thrill of this gift! Richard Petty Driving School offers ride-along drives starting at $99 or he can drive the car himself (packages start at $449).

Golf Club Fitting

Give him a gift certificate for a golf club fitting at Cool Clubs in Lewisville, which uses state of the art technology to custom fit him with the clubs most suitable for his swing and body type. A single golf club fitting starts at $125 (does not include club). I’ve had a few guy friends do this and really enjoyed the experience.

Craft Beer/Whiskey/Wine Tasting or Tour

Scardello Cheese offers craft beer and cheese pairing classes at their Dallas store and at the recently renovated Dallas Farmers Market (the latter costs just $20/person). Trinity Groves offers unique classes like Bacardi Cocktails and Cigar Dinners. Also, at Trinity Groves you can book a brewery tour at Four Corners Brewing. (It’s free, but you have to reserve in advance – maybe pair a print-out of the tour with a case of hip, craft beer!) And if you want to surprise him with a fun day trip Father’s Day weekend, head up to Pilot Point, Texas on Saturday to tour the Western Son Distillery. They have live music and children are welcome!

BBQ Camp!

Unfortunately, the two BBQ camps hosted by Texas A&M’s Department of Animal Science and Foodways Texas have already sold out for the summer. But I’m adding it to the list to keep in mind for next year (or Christmas or his birthday!). For three days he will learn all about pit design and maintenance, rubs and marinades, beef and pork anatomy, and will even visit with a famous Texas BBQ pitmaster. Of course, he gets to eat the results of all his hard work, too!
