Where To Find Holiday Lights in Dallas {2016}

In a sprawling metroplex, finding holiday lights can be like looking for a needle in a haystack. It’s important to know the right neighborhoods to search, how far you want to travel, and whether you want to stay in your car or get out and explore. Whether you’re new to Dallas or looking to see something new this year, here is your 2016 Guide to Twinkle Lights in Dallas!

Deerfield :: Legacy Drive & Colonade, Plano :: (between Preston Rd. and Coit Rd. Enter from Legacy on Colonnade or Archgate, noting one-way and restricted-turn signs along Old Pond Dr. and Hallmark Dr. ) A well known neighborhood in the area, and widely appreciated for their spectacular holiday light displays. Click here for directions and more info. There is a preview on their website to help you decide if it’s worth the drive. Carriage Rides are also available if you don’t mind the price. {Runs December 1-30 from 7-11pm}

Kessler Park :: 1415 W. Colorado Blvd, Oak Cliff :: This historic neighborhood sits just south of downtown and overlooks the skyline with treelined streets and charming turn of the century homes that will be decorated with thousands of festive Christmas lights. The neighborhood organization funds all of the decorations! Look for details on their Neighborhood Website.

Prairie Lights :: 5610 Lake Ridge Pkwy, Grand Prairie :: November 24-January 1  Drive through the world’s longest light tunnel and see the displays of 4 million lights. Stop and get out at the Holiday Village to purchase refreshments, visit Santa, and catch some live entertainment with their newest Indoor Holiday Show. Click here for admission prices and more info.

Highland Park :: Armstrong & Preston, Dallas :: Be prepared to witness a friendly holiday “competition” at its finest. This iconic Dallas neighborhood brings thousands of visitors each year to witness the over-the-top, life-like, and sometimes technologically advanced displays from some of Dallas’s largest homes. If you make an appointment quickly, you can grab a coffee in Highland Park Village and jump on board one of the Highland Park Carriage Rides for a unique light tour, but time slots go fast!

Vitruvian Lights :: 3875 Ponte Ave, Addison :: November 25-January 1 This is a fairly new addition to the metroplex! Overlooking a creek, this new home development has decorated EVERY tree in the neighborhood with beautiful lights reflecting off the water.

Tour of Lights :: 2540 Farmers Branch Ln, Farmers Branch :: November 25-December 30 Don’t miss this stunning display all from your car! Hop off at I-35 & Josey and follow the trail to downtown Farmers Branch and its Historical Park. This trail of lights is FREE, so don’t be surprised when you’re not the only vehicle there. You’ll also want to check the hours of operation; they’re closed Dec. 3 & Christmas Day. 

Holidays at the Heard :: Heard Natural Science Museum, McKinney :: December 10th, 16th & 17th ONLY You’ll hop out of your car for this experience and make sure to bring your walking shoes. This LIMITED opportunity is available to those willing to take a chilly 1/2 mile walk through the Wildlife Sanctuary. There is an admission and tickets typically sell fast!

  1. You forgot Texas Motor Speedway’s Gift
    Of Light tour. Drive-thru the stadium to see different themes. It’s the best in the metroplex!
