Dallas Moms In the Know: A Guide to the Month of March 2017

It’s that time of year where moms are beginning to get antsy in anticipation of Summer! With only three months left of school and Spring Break just a few weeks away (or closer for some), we’re already filling our calendars with birthday parties, sporting events, and some much needed vacation time! Whether you’re looking for something do because you’re staying in town over Spring Break or you’re needing daily activities to keep your little one entertained, we have a list of some unique indoor fun and outdoor fun, perfect for you and your crew.

The Guide below is just a glimpse at some of the more unique events happening around the city to help you plan your March. We maintain a full calendar of events here! It’s filled with cool events and awesome ideas on how to keep your tiny tots and school-aged busy during their time off.


All March long
:: You know Spring has officially sprung when Dallas Blooms! comes to the Dallas Arboretum. This seasonal event officially begins February 25 and runs through April 9th and hosts Sunday storytimes, Mommy & Me Mondays, Tiny Tot Tuesdays, and more all month long. This year’s theme is Flower Power and with over 500,000 blooms in floral displays (including VW Bugs!), you’re guaranteed to find the perfect spot for a weekday picnic or weekend photo op.

March 1-5 :: Lego Americana has come to town at Stonebriar Centre! Kids can enjoy a FREE Brick Play Area, 10 Americana themed models, and Lego scavenger hunts.

March 1-12 :: If you’re a fan of Cirque du Soleil, here’s your chance to catch an incredible show right here in Dallas. Kurios is playing at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie under the Yellow & Blue Big Top! Admission is $35-$175 per person, so plan your date night before it packs up and leaves town.

March 2 :: There’s not a better place to enjoy Spring than at Texas Discovery Gardens for Stories and More! Read a book, enjoy themed snacks and activities, and stay for the noon butterfly release in the Butterfly House. Begins at 11am; tickets are $8/child and regular admission for adults.

March 3 :: LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Grapevine Mills has been undergoing a remodel and it’s scheduled to reopen March 3rd with the brand new Lego Ninjago City Adventure and Friends Heartlake City. Make sure to stay connected to their website for up to date info incase this is delayed.

March 3 :: March is all about celebrating the Irish Heritage! Whether it’s in your ancestory or not, you can bring your kids out to the North Texas Irish Festival at Fair Park and enjoy a real Irish experience. There will be music, dancing, blacksmith demonstrations, Celtic storytelling, and lot of Irish food to sample.

March 3, 4, 5, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, 25 & 26:: What happens to a boy who plants a few magic beans? Find out at Dallas Children’s Theater’s version of Jack and  the Beanstalk. Recommended for ages 4+.

March 4 :: Yes! Your child does belong in an art museum…and this post proves it! Give it a try and bring them to the Nasher Sculpture Garden for FREE with Target First Saturdays for family programming from 10am-2pm and free admission all day!

March 10:: Do you have a Dirk fan at home? The Dallas Mavericks are playing the Brooklyn Nets, but most importantly it’s Dirk Nowitzki Bobblehead Night! Grab a ticket and be one of the 1st 5,000 fans in the door and get a complimentary bobblehead. The games at 8pm, so you’ll want to make sure and arrive at least an hour early.

March 11 ::Everyone’s favorite Mermaid is making her way to Dallas Summer Musicals at Fair Park. Bring your kids to a showing of The Little Mermaid starting March 11-March 27. Ticket prices will vary but start at $25.

March 11 :: Our friends up at Watters Creek are starting the Shamrock celebrations early! Bring the whole family and participate in a Shamrock Shindig from 1-5pm. There will be live entertainment, face painters, and even complimentary Green Root glitter from Tony & Guy.

March 16-19 :: Disney has made it’s way back to the American Airlines Center!  Disney on Ice presents Worlds of Enchantment where you can visit Ariel and The Little Mermaid’s undersea kingdom, see Buzz, Woody, Jessie and the Toy Story gang escape Sunnyside Daycare, and other amazing characters. You’ll want to get your tickets to this quickly because they’ve been on sale since January and will go fast!

March 18 :: Galleria Dallas hosts weekly kids programming each Saturday for families, but on March 18th in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday will host Seussology 101. This fun performance features the sister of Dr. Seuss’ famous hat wearing cat. She will bring wise and witty tips for living from the good Dr. Seuss with magic, music, puppets, and fun!

March 23 :: Dallas Moms Blog is hosting a Moms Night Out if you’re needing a night away. Join us a Bubbles & Baubles at Kendra Scott Preston Center where you’ll enjoy samples from Taco Diner, swag bag goodies, sweet treats from Sprinkles Cupcakes, and of course, 15% off any Kendra Scott purchase! March 25 :: If you’re a parent, the DFW Family Expo has all the info you need for raising your kid in Dallas + a day of excitement in one Expo Hall! Vendors, exhibitors, and service providers will be on site to provide you with information. For the kids, you can catch live performances, an indoor trampoline park, petting zoo, princess and character appearances, appearances by movie characters and the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, soccer zone, inflatables, sports games, children’s race courses, dedicated crawler and toddler areas, massage stations, face painters, balloon twisters, photo booths and more – all of which is free with admission. Tickets are $5/person and the proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities.

March 26 :: If you have a child who would benefit from a sensory-friendly experience, the Dallas Zoo is hosting Sensory Friendly Day! For only $6, children and adults can expect sound adjustments and quiet zones to create an enjoyable environment for the whole family. You do need to register in advance on the Zoo’s website.

March 31 :: Spend a Day Out with Thomas the Train at Grapevine Vintage Railroad has he rolls into town for the Friendship Tour. You and your family will be able to enjoy a 25 minute ride on Thomas the Tank Engine plus participate in activities before and after your ride like storytelling, live music, and an Imagination Station. Reservations for Day Out with Thomas will go quickly, so book soon!
