Moms in the Know: Your Guide to Dallas Family Events in July

July is a fun, fun month!! So much to do as we celebrate our American Independence…but you’re also looking for just as many ways to keep cool. Make sure to plan your days carefully, bring lots of water, and most of all enjoy the time you have together as a family.

The Guide below is just a glimpse at some of the more interesting events happening around the city (both indoors and out) to help you plan your month of July 2016. We maintain a full calendar of events here and when you subscribe to our Newsletter, you get a free calendar printable! It’s filled with cool events and awesome ideas on how to keep your tiny tots and school-aged busy during their time off.

July 16 Dallas Moms GuideOne Day Only

July 2 :: There’s not a better place to enjoy Spring than at Texas Discovery Gardens for Stories and More! Read a book, enjoy themed snacks and activities, and stay for the noon butterfly release in the Butterfly House. Begins at 11am; tickets are $8/child and regular admission for adults. 

July 2 :: Yes! Your child does belong in an art museum…and this post proves it! Give it a try and bring them to the Nasher Sculpture Garden for FREE with Target First Saturdays for family programming from 10am-2pm and free admission all day! This month’s theme: space

July 3 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Lone Stars & Strips Fireworks Celebrations at Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie  – Begins at 3pm

July 3 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Addison Kaboom Town at Addison Circle Park – Begins at 4pm

July 3 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Southlake Stars & Stripes at Southlake Town Square  – Begins at 6pm

July 3 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Farmers Branch Independence Day Celebration at Farmers Branch Historical Park – Begins at 6:30pm

July 4 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Fair Park Fourth 2016 at Cotton Bowl in Dallas – Activities take place all day.

July 4 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Plano Lions Independence Day Parade at Plano ISD Administration Building. Begins at 9am-11am.

July 4 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Frisco Freedom Fest at Frisco Square – Begins at 4pm

July 4 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Garland Star-Spangled Spectacular at Firewheel Town Center – Begins at 4pm

July 4 :: (FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATIONS) Richardson Family 4th Celebration at Breckinridge Park – Begins at 6pm

July 6 :: Listen to a story high above the city at Tall Tales Story Time at the GeO-Deck at Reunion Tower at 11:00-11:30am. 

July 7:: Head over to The Shops at Willow Bend for Summer Fun Thursdays. Activities include science demos with Sci-Tech Discovery Center

July 15 :: If you’re a Dallas Stars Fan, head down to Klyde Warren Park for a Dallas Stars Party in the Park from 6pm-10pm.

July 15 :: Step back in time to the 19th century at the Nash Farm in Grapevine. Kids will learn skills through educational experiences such as candle making, cooking, gardening, and household choirs. 

July 21 :: Experience all the Dallas Zoo has to offer for only $1 with Dallas Zoo’s Dollar Days.

July 28 :: If you haven’t attended a Butterfly Tea Party at Texas Discovery Gardens, I highly encourage it! Based on the book Fancy Nancy: Bonjour Butterfly, this is a beautiful tea party set among the butterflies with tickets starting at $12.

July 30 :: Bring all the kids to Galleria Dallas for Showtime Saturdays with Cinde Sanders Puppets and Magic starting at 11:30am. There’s balloon animals, face paintings, and an indoor play space.

Happening All Month

July 1-31 (Fridays Only) :: Keep cool this summer each Friday at Monster Yogurt in Richardson for FREE Face Painting Fridays with Gigi Talbert. No purchase necessary.  

July 1-31 :: Summer at the Arboretum has activities all summer long for families! Coll Thursdays Concert Series, Early Morning Yoga, Nature Nights, and Family Fun Fridays (from 10am-2pm) featuring face painting, petting zoo, and music are just the start of the fun. 

July 1-31 :: Escape into the world of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland at SummerFest at Gaylord Texan through September.. Activities take place everyday like the Mad Hater’s Tea, and each Friday & Saturday experience Queen of Hearts Light Up the Night Party and 3D Light Show.  

July 1-31 :: Calling all LEGO maniacs! LEGOLAND Discovery Center kicks off a full year of fun with the debut of  LEGO® Star Wars™ MINILAND Model Display today. Each display will recreate favorite scenes in Star Wars™ Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Fans will marvel at the replicas of a Gladiator-style battle between Jedi and Geonosians on Geonosis, Jango Fett Clones lining up on Kamino, Jango Fett battling Anakin Skywalker featuring Slave Ship 1 and Boba Fett, plus many more.

July 2-30 :: Experience the Zoo like you haven’t seen it before with Safari Nights at the Dallas Zoo. The Safari Nights concert series features live music, extended hours, special shows, and a chance to mingle every Saturday night in July. 

July 1-31 :: If you or your children love to collect, this is the exhibit for you! Eye of the Collector at Perot Museum of Nature and Science holds Dallas Cowboy memorabilia, PEZ dispensers of all kinds, the largest Star Wars collection in the world, and so much more!

Krystal is a Dallas-native who began her career as a fourth grade teacher in Richardson RISD, but quickly changed paths to became a stay-at-home mom in 2011. Through a happy coincidence, she stumbled upon (what was then known as) Dallas Moms Blog in 2012 and found a community she’d been looking for since coming a mom. Shortly after joining the team, she gratefully accepted the “baton” passed to her as new owner of the site, and took off with it running full speed! Krystal not only helped to grow Dallas Moms into a large parenting resource, but also launched Collin County Moms in 2016; providing those in the north Dallas suburbs their community resource platform. While building a community, uniting the moms, and growing a business around this passion was a dream come true, after almost 10 years, Krystal officially stepped down as owner, and is now focusing on raising her 4 boys with her husband, Tim, and rediscovering old hobbies.
