My First Fish :: Cane Pole Fishing 101 – Railroad Park, Lewisville. Bring out the whole family and learn how to properly prepare your very own cane fishing pole. Cost is $10 per person and includes an outfitted, ten-foot cane pole for you to take home. Registration is required. Ages five and up, please. Adults 17 years and older must have a valid Texas freshwater fishing license.

JumpstART Stories and Art – Irving Art Center. This month’s theme is “Alphabet Soup.” Learn the letters of the alphabet with fun stories and art! JumpstART happens every first Thursday of the month at 10:00 a.m. For kids two years and up. Free!

Homeschool Day at Nash Farms – Join the Nash farmhands for a morning on the farm. Learn about the Nash family and farm while helping the farmhands get chores done. Afterwards, you are welcome to picnic on the farm and explore on your own. Cost is $5 per person. Event runs from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Divine Consign :: Children’s Pop-Up Sale – Grapevine Convention Center. DFW’s favorite pop-up consignment event for gently-used children’s and maternity clothing, shoes, baby equipment, furniture, books, and more! See website for details and times.

Second Sunday Funday is a hands-on art afternoon, offering parents and children projects they can create together in the creative atmosphere of Irving Arts Center. Drop in between 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. to find inspiration in the gallery exhibitions and to make art, friends and fun. Free!

Open Studio for Teens, a new teen program at Irving Arts Center, is a place where teens can create art, experiment with materials, learn new techniques and make new friends! Takes place at the same time as the family event, Second Sunday Funday (see below). 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. Free!

37th Annual Grapefest – There will be a variety of events, special wine tastings, and even family-friendly activities when Main Street closes down to traffic for the four-day festival throughout the third weekend in September. Entry price is $5 – $20 per person. See website for details.
