My favorite Dallas bloggers

blog_with_authenticity_without_getting_firedLater this week in New York City, around 4,500 bloggers will gather at the annual BlogHer conference to celebrate all that is wonderful about blogging. City Moms Blog will be there, as well as several of our own Dallas Moms Blog contributing writers (including me!).

At Dallas Moms Blog, we’re not just writers, we’re also blog readers! We all love reading blogs from other parents in the metroplex. Before I started writing for Dallas Moms Blog, I was a blogger on my own blog. It was through that blog and through blogging conferences such as BlogHer that I met a number of other Dallas bloggers. Over the years, I’ve enjoyed following their blogs and sharing the ups and downs in their families and lives. In honor of this week’s upcoming BlogHer conference, I’d like to take the opportunity to share some of my personal favorite Dallas bloggers and what I love about their blogs.

It’s important to note that this is just my personal list — it’s not exhaustive by any means. I’d love for you to share your favorite blogs in the comments of this post and on our Facebook page!

Dallas blogs I love*:

  • Baby Rabies – I love Jill’s honest real-life look at motherhood with all its trials, laughter and, of course, wine! She has taught me a lot about photography too, as she shares tips from Clickin’ Moms.
  • Charmed Valerie – Valerie is a DFW mother of two boys who challenges us all to keep our sense of style by showing off her own wonderful wallet-friendly outfits, hair, and makeup tips. I learned about Revlon’s Lip Butter from her. Life saver!
  • Real Posh Mom – Jennifer has a compassionate heart for charitable causes, a fabulous sense of style, and extensive knowledge of local food in Dallas. She challenges me to try new things and live a life of quality.
  • As Many As We’re Given – A mom of 6 children, I always look to Nicole as an example of how it can be done! She is very honest about her life, but as I’ve followed her and conversed with her on Twitter over the years, I can also tell that she really loves every minute of the time she spends with her children. Her blog is a place you’ll always feel welcome and comforted.
  • She Likes Purple – Jennie is not only a personal blogger on her own web site, but also manages two other blogs, Style Lush and Food Lush. I see her as an excellent example of a grounded, multitasking, yet balanced, working mom. Who also has time to blog! Wow! While I’d also recommend her other two blogs, my fave is She Likes Purple simply because Jennie really shows her heart there.
  • Are Things Complicated Yet? – After meeting A’Dell in real life, I realized that I already knew her through Jennie. Dallas is a small world! A’Dell makes me laugh nearly every day with her hilarious take on life. I have particularly enjoyed commiserating with her on our gardening adventures this spring and summer. Hop on over, have a laugh, and congratulate her on the upcoming birth of her third child!
  • Today’s Letters – Emily was working at my church when I first heard about her blog through our marriage ministry. The blog started based on the little love letters she wrote to her husband each day and posted on her Facebook status. The idea of that kind of dedication both blew me away and intimidated me. I love how she’s taken that idea and expanded it into an honest blog about their live and marriage, which still manages to be incredibly encouraging. I recommend reading regularly as a challenge to improve your own marriage.
  • A Daddy Blog – I met Michael at a local bloggers’ event, and I have enjoyed reading his thoughtful posts not only about family from the perspective of a (very involved) Dad, but also about brain-challenging topics such as social media, technology, and current events.
  • Thankfully Thrifty – Aside from just being a blog about saving money, Ashleigh also covers green living topics such as making your own toothpaste, making your own yogurt using your crockpot, and recipes for homemade bread! I cannot tell you how many of her tips I’ve used in the past year.
And, of course, I can’t help but list the blogs of my fellow Dallas Mom Blog contributors. They need no introduction, because you already know and love them:
Now it’s your turn. Tell me all about the Dallas bloggers that you love and why you love them!

*DISCLAIMER: Dallas Moms Blog does not vouch for the contents of these blogs — Jenny enjoys them or thinks they’re funny but that doesn’t mean they don’t contain the occasional profanity or that you are going to agree with all the opinions or viewpoints expressed in the blogs. Have fun discovering!
