The Pioneer Woman is coming to Big D!

The Pioneer Woman is making her way to Dallas this weekend! I’m sure you’ve heard of her. She’s the city-turned-country blogger who has written two cookbooks and now stars on her own Food Network show. She’s a rancher’s wife, food blogger, photographer, and mother of four. The cooking section of her blog is full of family friendly, southern-style recipes that are sure to please. If you haven’t spent time on her website,, you need to as soon as possible!

Our household’s favorite Pioneer Woman recipe is hands-down her Spicy Dr. Pepper Shredded Pulled Pork. I usually make it on a Sunday and it makes enough for at least 3-4 meals. We’ll mix it up and have sandwiches, rice bowls, and tacos throughout the week. It is so good and makes it nice to only have to really “cook” one day for a week’s worth of meals. And that is just the beginning of great recipes on her blog. Our other favorites include Beef with Snow Peas, Blue Cheese Pasta, and of course, her Chicken Fried Steak and Mashed Potatoes. YUM.

Ree {that’s her real name, but most call her Pioneer Woman or PW for short} will be in Dallas this weekend while on tour for her new cookbook that came out a few weeks ago. I can’t wait to meet her and get her to sign my cookbook! Here are the details:

When: This Saturday, April 14th @ 12 P.M.

Where: Sam’s Club, 6185 Retail Road, Dallas {this is the new one at Skillman and Northwest Highway}

What: The Pioneer Woman will be signing books on her 2012 Cookbook Tour starting at noon. I talked to a manager at Sam’s this morning, and he said they would start giving out numbered tickets {one per person} around 9am. Then you’ll be able to come back and get in line by number order just before noon. Hopefully this will help avoid long lines and wait time. Her new cookbook will be available for purchase at the time of her book signing. She also states on her blog that you can bring a copy of her first cookbook and she’ll sign that, too.

I’ve had this on my calendar for weeks and I can’t wait! Hope to see you there!

I used to follow the Pioneer Woman, but not so much anymore.  If you take the time to look past her blog and the favorable press releases issued by her highly compensated publicists, you soon learn that Ree Drummond is anything but the “little ol’ ranch wife” she claims to be.

Who needs a cookbook with recipes for burgers, sloppy joes,
gr. bean casserole, grilled cheese and brownies?  I already own a Betty Crocker cookbook.  And who has the time to make donuts from
scratch when you can pick up fresh from Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts?  The Thai Chicken Pizza recipe is ripped off
from CPK and if you google a recipe for mountain dew apple dumplings, over
    8,000 results are returned.

Why do people allow themselves to be misled/duped by this
media circus.  Ree Drummond has no
discernible culinary talent and all she does is wing it on the back of her
    multi-millionaire husband’s bank account.
His mega bucks have bought the services of publicists to wine and dine
    Food Network,  paid Voce Communications
to manage her blog and financed book deals with HarperCollins.

Exactly what are Ree’s achievements?  Lifting recipes from church and community
cookbooks, taking obscene amounts of photos and posting them on the
internet?  Rarely does she ever attribute
her sources and that’s downright lame.

Don’t people have better things to do with their time than
live vicariously through an internet myth, one perpetuated by high-priced
publicists?  So sad how people buy into

This is so exciting.  Thanks for sharing!  Whether you are a fan or not, it’s still your own prerogative and choice to follow her or not!
