0

Our thoughts and prayers are with the families affected by the recent fertilizer plant explosion in West, Texas. When tragedy strikes, every little bit can help those affected. We’ve compiled a few ways that you can pitch in to help those affected and their families.

Donating Blood

Bring blankets, diapers and clothing of all sizes to our DFW Moms Night Out event tonight. We’ll be accepting donations and sending them to Peas & Tots and Smarty Pants consignment stores in Waco to benefit the residents of West.

Donate blood. Medical City Children’s Hospital in Dallas will be accepting blood donations from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m Thursday, April 18 at the first-floor atrium. The hospital is located at 7777 Forest Lane in Dallas. You can also donate at Carter BloodCare locations across Dallas. Call ahead, though, as wait times could be more than an hour and some locations could be closed. Appointments are highly recommended.

Send bottled water, personal hygiene items, blankets, clothing and canned goods to Extraco Events Center in Waco. They’ll be accepting donations from 9 am to 5 pm Thursday, April 18 and Friday, April 19. For information call 254-776-1660.

Give to the American Red Cross. Teams from Dallas-Fort Worth and Central Texas are on scene helping victims and their families.

For information on family and loved ones in West, an emergency hotline has been set up by the American Red Cross: 254-202-1100. You can also check the Safe & Well website for information on loved ones.
