International Coffee Day :: 6 Kid-Friendly Places To Drink {& Enjoy!} Coffee in DFW

kid-friendly coffee shops in DallasMy school-aged kiddo has headed back to the classroom, which means I’m left with only one little person to wrangle on a daily basis. It’s time to hit up the preschool/playgroup circuit and arrange a get-together or two. The weather will be playground-appropriate soon, but sometimes my mom friends and I like to seek refuge in a spot that also serves the biggest, best cup of coffee in town (no surprise there). And, lucky for us and other North Texas parents, there are plenty of buzz-worthy spots that fit the bill. These eight coffee shops serve up lattes, cold brews, and even basic drip, all in a kid-friendly environment.

Bread Winners Cafe & Bakery | NorthPark Location

Most Dallas moms know the beauty of the outdoor seating that is Bread Winners at North Park. Get there early, order coffee for you, the fruit and muffin combo for your little one, and then watch her wear herself out in the grassy outdoor space beyond the patio. Not only will you be able to enjoy your early morning buzz without having to take your eyes off your busy toddler, but she’ll be totally ready for nap time when you leave. Now, that’s smart parenting.

Palmieri Cafe at Dallas Farmers Market

If you haven’t made your way down to the Dallas Farmers Market, make it a priority. You can grab a to-go cup from Palmieri Cafe—an Italian coffee shop and bakery that serves fresh and authentic Italian pastries and coffee—and then wander over to the new play space on the north side of the market. There’s a water table, chalkboard, and even a climbing net to keep your little adventurers busy while you chat with other parents.

Coffee House Cafe

This kid-friendly spot in North Dallas made its way onto the Thrillist’s Best Dallas Coffeshops. It’s got all kinds of yummy menu offerings, like silver dollar pancakes, fresh fruit, and PB&J; a patio (dogs are welcome); and all the coffee served at the espresso bar is certified fair trade and organic. If you pop by on the weekend, there’s even live music! Best part? If you don’t think the littles can handle an extended visit; simply roll through the drive-thru for coffee and freshly baked goodies.

Book Club Cafe

This locally-owned coffee roasting company is also a cafe that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner every day except Wednesdays. Located in historic downtown Rockwall, it’s got a sun-filled corner with games, a skateboard bench that always keeps curious kids busy, yummy baked goods made from locally sourced food items, and The Benny latte. Don’t ask, just order.

Starbucks at Park Lane

Recommended by a fellow Dallas Moms contributor, the Starbucks at Park Lane offers a big grassy area that’s the perfect spot for wiggle worms to run and play while mom or dad enjoys a cuppa (or a frappa).
