Are you an Amazon Mom?

I love saving money. It’s like a game for me to see how much I can save on something. When I had our son, I realized I was entering a whole new world of things to “save” money on – diapers, wipes, baby food, and clothes, just to name a few.

Amazon-mom-logoThrough one of my favorite baby deal-finding websites that posts weekly diaper deals, I discovered Amazon Mom about a year ago.

Girls, it has changed my life! Well, that might be a little over the top, but I LOVE it! I know this probably sounds like an advertisement, but they’re not paying me to say this…I just really think it’s great!

It saves me money. And it saves me trips to the store lugging huge boxes of diapers to the car with a toddler in tow. And those two things together really make this momma happy.

I was a little hesitant at first, but after trying it I was sold! Here’s how it works…

You (or anyone caring for a kiddo-grandparents, aunts, dads, moms) just have to sign up-it’s free!

Then you can start saving money by using the subscribe and save option. You automatically save 30 percent on diapers and wipes (two things that my baby boy needs on a daily basis!). You also can save 15 percent on grocery and household supplies (think toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent). Who doesn’t like saving money on things you have to buy?

With the subscribe and save option you tell it how often you want to receive a new shipment-every 1, 2, 3 or 6 months. I wasn’t on board with this idea at first because I didn’t like the idea of “pre-ordering” my diapers. But then I realized that I could easily cancel my subscription as soon as the diapers shipped (which usually only takes a few hours…a day at most) so I wouldn’t have to worry about an unexpected box of diapers showing up on my porch in a few months. Problem solved!

diapersOn the positive side of subscribe and save…if you can figure out about how often you need diapers, it can make life a little easier. For example, the last time I bought night time diapers, I set it up to ship another box 2 months later (really thinking I’d just cancel the subscription in a day or two). Well, about 2 months down the road, I realized we were getting low and that I needed to order some. I went online to order, and realized I hadn’t cancelled my subscription and the diapers were already on their way to me! Sweet! No last minute panic over a diaper shortage!

And of course because I’m cheap, I hate paying for shipping. But Amazon mom has great shipping perks! If you order through subscribe and save you get free shipping-always! So it cost you NOTHING extra to have diapers, wipes, toilet paper, etc show up on your doorstep! You aren’t even having to pay for gas!

And they also give you three months of free two-day shipping with Amazon Prime. I have never been one to pay the up-charge for two day shipping, but now that I have it, I’m hooked (at least hooked while it’s free). It’s so nice to order something (baby related or even something non baby related) and have it show up on your doorstep in two days! And every time you spend $25 in the baby store (diapers, wipes, baby gifts, butt paste etc.) you earn an extra month of free prime shipping benefits. If you just use your membership, it’s easy to earn a whole year of free two-day shipping!

But how do you know if Amazon Mom is really a good deal? Don’t just take my word for it. Several deal finding website like Baby Cheapskate and Baby GoodBuys made it easy. They both brag about how Amazon is regularly the place to go for low prices. As another diaper shopping resource, Baby Cheapskate even has a chart showing you the price to beat when shopping and stores as well as what they consider an Amazon stockupportunity. So anytime I’m shopping Amazon, all I have to do is to look at the cost per diaper (that Amazon has on each listing for you!) and I know if I’m getting a good deal or not! They’re also great sites to help you find Amazon coupons!

So have you tried it? If so, do you love it? If not, where have you found the best deals on diapers?

  1. I LOVE Amazon Mom! We’re switching to cloth diapers, but I LOVED getting my diapers for cheap and shipped to my house! 🙂 Thanks for sharing, Kali! 🙂

  2. I’ve never used Amazon Mom to buy my diapers. I don’t know why I’ve always brushed it off. I guess because I never really saw it explained anywhere. Great post, Kali. 🙂
