Celebrating with Rudolph at the Majestic Theatre

Last Friday night (after the turkey leftovers had been consumed and the rest of the pie demolished) my husband and daughter, along with my best friend and her husband kicked off the holiday season by attending a performance of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Majestic Theater.

After our viewing of The Cat in the Hat being so successful for my three year old, I thought that she might be ready to upgrade the production scale, and what better way than to go to a play adapted off a movie she already loves?

I personally had never been to The Majestic before and was impressed by the intricate and beautiful details throughout the building.  It was obvious it was an older theater, but that was definitely part of its charm and only added to the excitement of the show we were about to see.

We made our way down to our seats and immediately my daughter proclaimed she wanted something to eat.  Looking around I saw many other children munching on various snacks so while I didn’t appreciate the price ($3 for a bag of pretzels) I very much welcomed the distraction it offered while we had to wait patiently for the play to start.

I am sure that most have seen the movie version of Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and if you are a fan of the movie, then the play won’t disappoint.  The actors were phenomenal and the sets, while simple, really helped bring the story to life.  My entire family laughed through out the show and it was so enjoyable to see my daughters delighted face when the massive abominable snowman came on stage-apparently she found him more loveable than scary!

The intermission came at the perfect timing, my daughter was acting her age by that time and ready to move– and move a lot!  We had a side aisle seat so she was able to jump and play to shake some of her energy out for 15 minutes, preparing her for the shorter second half.

If you are interested in going too, they will have performances through December 29th.

I am so glad that we took the chance to take her to a holiday play; it really was the perfect start to our Christmas celebrations-so much so that we anticipate making it a yearly tradition!
