Contributor Confessions: If My Walls Could Talk

1

As a blogger, a lot of my life is out there in the open.  I truly try to be authentic and share glimpses into the good and the bad, the fun and the hard moments.  Still, I’m sure if you were to ask the walls of my house what really goes on, I’m sure they would give you a different insight than I share myself.

*On a daily basis, my walls would see me looking around my house and watch as I sit on my couch completely overwhelmed with the amount of organization my home needs but it feels so insurmountable I just close my eyes and block it out.

*These same walls see me and my husband kissing every day, as my oldest daughter yells, “Ewwww!  Gross!  I told you no more kissing!”

*I might definitely would be caught zoning out on my phone while my girls are digging through my makeup collection making a huge mess but happily entertaining themselves.

*My walls know that my kids eat Nutella sandwiches and ramen for dinner far more often than should ever be admitted.

*The walls might share the moments of pure bliss as I crawl on the floor with my two girls playing “horsey” and hearing their deep belly laughs.

*My walls have seen me lose my patience with my girls over the silliest of things but know that I always hug them tight reassuring them they are loved.

*My home’s walls know the feeling of my body weight as I slump against them during a panic attack, using them as a concrete sensation to keep me in reality.

*It is possible that my walls, if they had emotions, might feel neglected because despite the fact that we purchased our house seven years ago every single one is completely bare.

*My walls know my marriage’s toughest moments, the fights we have experienced behind closed doors or the times we have had to walk away from each other so that we didn’t say things we didn’t mean.

*These same walls also are privy to my marriage’s strongest moments, the laughter from inside jokes and the special looks at each other as we watch our girls playing together knowing that life is just really, really good.

*My walls know that despite my hectic life, I try to balance the roles of self, wife, mom, friend and employee.  Some areas my lack (cleaning and cooking especially) but I devote myself as much as possible to every other aspect and feel quite content about where I am in my life.

  1. Love this! My walls are bare and I sit and relax with my growing to-do list way to much. But mommy-hood is exhausting!
Maybe I’ll hang so pictures when my kids are older! 🙂
