Dallas Fun: Jack Carter Pool

3

Jack Carter Pool is actually a public pool up in Plano. The cost is $3, but for kids under 3 it is free. I met up with a friend (one of our new Contributors- Erin, hooray) to let our little toddlers splash around and try to get some mom-talk in.

The pool is divided into two big sections. The kid pool is nice, big and fenced in. We decided it would be perfect for older kids- maybe age 2 or 3. The fence and several alert life guards make it a great area for older kids to roam and play while mom watches from a distance. We tried our best to sit in the shallow water and let our kids splash right next to us, but their curiosity kept getting the best of them, and the water is just deep enough for them to fall on their hands and knees with their faces submerged. There is a big play structure in the middle of the kid pool with steps, fountains, and slides- fun fun! Again, a little too big for little ones, but great for veteran walkers and sliders. This area is surrounded by shaded picnic tables, making it a great place to enjoy lunch in between swimming.

The adult pool is huuuuge. Unfortunately they don’t allow floats (who does these days?) so we just carried our little munchkins in and played in the water. It was so refreshing!! Definitely not crowded at all, but we went on a Wednesday morning so I’m guessing weekends are a different story.

If you live in Plano or Allen, I would definitely recommend trying out this public pool. If it is a pretty far drive for you, I might suggest trying to find something else….and I am on the hunt! So..any recommendations of pools around Dallas??

  1. this pool has been on my list to try out and you’ve sold me-can’t wait to take tanner! we’ve been enjoying terrace pool this summer-it’s a richardson city pool with a walk in entrance and a couple of fountains.

    • Kali, we have been to Terrace pool in Richardson, too, and I like it. You will often find us at The Canyon Creek pool in Richardson since it’s in our neighborhood. It’s free because we only use the baby pool and I like the baby pool! You should come join us since it’s right down the street from you. We also go to Jack Carter pool almost every week and we LOVE it! I agree with everything Lauren said. Langston (2) likes walking up and down the stairs of the play area, but he has no interest in sliding into the water. ๐Ÿ™‚
