I remember the first time I saw the movie adaptation of Phantom of the Opera in high school. I was mesmerized by the stunning music and haunting storyline. However, getting to the chance to see this beautiful production live was the best treat. There is nothing more magical than seeing a live stage performance and Cameron Mackintosh’s production of the Andrew Lloyd Webber classic did not disappoint. It was a truly immersive experience that kept the audience enraptured and entertained the entire time.

The costuming and sets were absolutely stunning and let’s not forget about the real star of any live show – the talented artists sharing their acting and musical talents. Eva Tavares who played the role of Christine Daaé had such an incredible stage presence and phenomenal voice that encapsulated the role perfectly.

I was able to sneak out for this fun evening with my very best friend from high school who is an avid Broadway lover as a belated birthday celebration for us both and it was such a fun and fancy excuse to have a girls night together! Having lived in Dallas my whole life, I can sometimes forget that our city provides a space like the Music Hall at Fair Park that houses such amazing musical productions. Seeing this show with my friend was also a nice change of pace from our normal dinner and drinks and gave us an opportunity to venture out and experience something new together!

While we made a girls night of the production I think seeing Phantom of the Opera would make for a wonderful date night (again, break out of the comfort zone of movies and dinner out!) or something to experience with an older child. After the show, my friend and I were talking about our love of musicals and she shared that her dad was the one who sparked her interest in Broadway productions. I love that seeing shows together is something they still do now that she is an adult and I hope that one day I can do the same for my kids!
