Frozen Applesauce Toddler Snacks

I always thought I was one of the lucky ones — a mom whose kid would eat practically anything. And then, toddlerhood happened.

It started innocently enough, with a closer examination of the things he was putting in his mouth. But soon, he started refusing to eat anything that looked different.

Now, I make sure to keep our kitchen stocked with picky toddler staples: goldfish, chicken nuggets, and applesauce pouches. Those things go fast, though, don’t they? My toddler can down an applesauce pouch without blinking and eye, so I decided to try to make them last a little longer by freezing them into fun shapes.

These Easy Frozen Applesauce Toddler Snacks can be made with any silicone mold — I used a star-shaped ice cube tray I picked up from the Dollar Spot at Target last summer.

You could even freeze them in drops on parchment paper for a bite-sized snack.

This got me thinking — what other things would made fun freezer snacks? Turns out, there are lots of great ideas!

  • Frozen Yogurt Dots — I love these bright, colorful dots, and I’m sure kiddos will love them, too! These were made using Greek yogurt sweetened with Agave Nectar, so they’re super healthy, too.
  • Frozen Banana Pops — Bite-sized bananas dipped in chocolate and covered with sprinkles — what’s not to love? Even my picky toddler would like these!
  • Watermelon Pops — Just cut shapes of out watermelon slices and add a popsicle stick. These would be delicious on a hot summer day!
  • Fruity Yogurt Snacks — Cover some strawberries in Greek yogurt and freeze them. Yummy!
  • Frozen Blueberries and Almond Milk — Mix the two ingredients to make a yummy slushy treat!

What are some of your toddler’s favorite snacks?
