Family Fun – Frisco RoughRiders

0

My husband and I love sports…especially our hometown Dallas teams that we have followed through good and bad times for

30ish years. We are definitely passing down our enthusiasm to our children. We had been discussing taking the kids to their first big baseball game this season. However, we were still on the fence taking two three year olds to the big ballpark to watch our beloved Rangers.

We decided to head to Frisco for Sunday family day to cheer on the RoughRiders.

Our tickets included four hats and food at the grab ‘n go which included all you can eat hot dogs, nachos, and non-acoholic beverages. It is a great value!

There are many other promotions and ticket packages.

IMG_3257The promotions crew really does a fantastic job making the atmosphere fun and super family friendly. I was even asked to play a game on the field, but I declined.  The game involved being blindfolded, and I just couldn’t do it…not even for a free t-shirt! But we had so much fun watching all of the games and segments on the jumbo tron. Even my busiest little three year olds were entertained enough to sit in their seats throughout the entire game (other than multiple trips to the restroom, of course).

The smallest member of my crew made it onto the field! Kids under 12 are invited to run the bases after the game. Parents are not allowed. My kids are pretty cautious, so I was prepared to wait in the line just to have them bail, but I was pleasantly surprised. When we got to the entrance of the field, a nice member of the RoughRiders staff reached for my daughter’s hand and off she went sprinting around those bases with a HUGE smile on her face! It was priceless and one of those memories that I will always cherish. My son got a little tripped up on the steps and was a bit to frazzled to follow his sister, but he keeps talking about trying again. I am already looking forward to our next outing. This time I know to get in line at Section 121 before the end of the game.

I assume you are thinking about the heat about now, and that is a valid concern. The Sunday game we attended was a 4:05pm and weather was perfect. As we quickly enter the really hot summer days, we may need opt for an evening game or choose a seat in the shade.  I made a note that the sections behind IMG_3256home plate and then down to the third base line enjoyed more shade than we did along the first base line.  I really had my eye on the Kroger Pool Zone, but I need to gather some folks to help me out with that one! The breezeways and shaded areas also offer a break from the heat, and you can always indulge in a Lemon Chill or sno cone too!

All in all, it was a great day sharing time as a family and we will definitely be back!
