We have partnered with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children to bring you Bloom and this information about KidSwing 2016. We love supporting this amazing organization!

We start teaching our kids at such young ages, things like colors and animals, tying their shoes, saying, “Please” and “Thank you,” and respecting adults. But what if you taught them to help others, to give back to the community or to make a difference in the world?  Did you know you could start instilling these lifelong values in your children as early as they become age 5? Well you can, and in a super fun way, by encouraging them to play in the KidSwing Golf Tournaments that benefit Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children (TSRHC)?

Our daughter was born without a right hand. Nope…we didn’t know before she was born and it certainly was a shock!  But we were immediately referred to TSRHC, an amazing pediatric orthopedic hospital right here in Dallas.  TSRHC provides services to its patients regardless of the family’s ability to pay. So of course we wanted to give back to them for all they have done for our daughter and for us. And participating in KidSwing is how we have given back to the hospital for more than 13 years!

KidSwing is a 9-hole scramble golf tournament for kids ages 5-15 of ALL playing abilities. Your child doesn’t need to know how to play golf to have a great time and learn the value of giving back and helping other kids! Each player is asked to raise at least $100 for Scottish Rite but the sky is the limit. So far the players in KidSwing (remember ALL of them are kids) have raised more than $1.8 million! Imagine how much of a difference that has made!

And the day is not just about golf. There are contests, popcorn, snow cones, a swim party, dinner, an amazing presentation and a chance to build lasting friendships. The players who reach certain benchmark fundraising levels also win awesome prizes!

Your kids, like mine, will cherish the lessons learned and the memories made at KidSwing. There are three KidSwing Golf Tournaments this summer: Dallas, Frisco and Trophy Club, so you are sure to find a date and location that works. Invite your child’s friends to play or sign up and meet new friends!

KidSwing will be headed to . . .

Cameron Doan, Charlsie Doan, Tristan Doan, Kelly DoanKelly and her husband of 22 years arrived in Dallas 16 years ago not knowing how much they were going to love the big city. After practicing law for a few years in El Paso, Kelly chose to retire and start a family that now includes Charlsie (age 15) and Tristan (age 13).  After her daughter was born without a hand and then developed Type 1 diabetes, Kelly decided her real purpose in life was to help others with similar issues. When not playing chauffeur or coordinating her kids’ social calendars, Kelly spends her free time volunteering, photographing her family’s adventures and scrapbooking memories.
