Nursery Tour: Rockin’ Bye Baby

3

My dear friend recently gave birth to her firstborn, Elliot. After visiting her house after they were home from the hospital, my husband was actually the one that reminded me to ask if I could feature her nursery on DMB. It is so cute and so unique and I especially love how it fits the personality of the parents. Enjoy! ________________________________________________________________

This Nursery Belongs To: Elliot Carlton

Location: Dallas, TX

Room Size: 10 x 12

What was the inspiration for this room?
This room was originally our music room and office. We decided that keeping the theme for a little one would be an ideal way to expose them to our interests.

What did you do first to the room? Where did you start?
The first thing to do was remove all of the office furniture, couch and all of our music and figure out what to do with it. The book cases on each side of the crib were the only things that stayed. The guest room has now also become the office! Thankfully, it is the largest bedroom in the house so our vintage desk and all of the cd’s and vinyl fit nicely (with new storage) with the existing furniture.

What is the one thing you are most proud of in this room?
I think the best parts of the room are the baby pictures and family photos we have incorporated into the mix. Also, that the cat has deemed it acceptable to sleep next to Elliot’s bed!

What was one of the biggest challenges you faced while decorating?
Thankfully, this room wasn’t all that much of a challenge, but I think that making the decision to purchase the furniture from an online vendor was the most stressful part, especially because we weren’t able to see it in person before making the decision.

Were you working with a budget when designing the room? If so, would you mind sharing what it was?
We did not have a budget for this room, but were able to find some great furniture at a great discount, and the crib will convert into a toddler then a full size bed. The glider was a gift from my husband’s parents, the bedding a gift from my Mom and best friend, the rug is from Ikea, and the rest of the décor was already in place. Hope Elliot likes it!

  1. I adore this…especially the picture of Conway Twitty above the change table! hahah! Love it when parents don’t take a nursery so seriously and express their personality in the space. Great job Bekah!

  2. First of all, I love the framed prints on the wall. The family photo collage is the best and you really did a nice job blending your interests for baby! It really shows that you put a lot of love into the design and thought into it.
