There’s nothing more magical than getting to experience the holidays through the eyes of a child. Christmas is my favorite time of year, but getting to see my children get excited about many of the same traditions I was introduced to as a child has brought the holidays to a whole new level for me.
My oldest daughter is 4 this year, and is at prime age to really enjoy all the festivities Dallas has to offer. When we heard Dallas Summer Musicals would be performing Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer, that quickly went to the top of our holiday to-do list.
We took my daughter to DSM’s The Little Mermaid this summer and she still talks about it weekly, so I know Rudolph will be a big hit as well! My husband and I decided this is a great opportunity to give our oldest some one-on-one time, and we plan to make a whole night of it!
The televised version of Rudolph is something my family makes a point to watch each year. Did you know it first debuted in 1964? Getting to see the story unfold with live actors will be so incredible! The play features all the iconic characters from the show like, Hermey the Elf, Ykon Cornelius, and even The Abominable Snow Monster! Costumes and characters faithfully brought to life against nostalgic set designs. The cast brings high energy to classic songs and dialogue, while irresistible and lovable puppets highlight the charming “roughness” from the television show’s stop-motion effects. In preparation for the Dallas run, the show will be adding new flying elements, and an enhanced set and scenic design to create an even more fantastic experience for Rudolph fans.
Getting to see Rudolph will be such a special experience for my family. We have many holiday traditions in our family, but I have a feeling as long as Rudolph comes to town (or to Fair Park) we will definitely go see him!
