Sandy Lake Amusement Park – Affordable Family Fun in North Dallas

Sandy Lake Unless you’ve been to a company picnic or a birthday party here, or your 6th grade band played here, you’ve probably never heard of Sandy Lake Amusement Park. Tucked right in the middle of North Dallas, you would never expect to find this little park when driving down the road. Sandy Lake opens in March on the weekends, just in time for spring weather!

There are wide open spaces and lots of trees. It’s a gorgeous spot with plenty of room for a picnic and space for the littles to run around. They also have carnival rides, mini-golf and paddle boats, an arcade with classic games, and even a pool. We visited Sandy Lake Amusement Park for a birthday party after unknowingly driving right past the entrance for nearly five years.

We were pleasantly surprised! I wouldn’t call this is the biggest or best attraction in Dallas – it doesn’t have thrills like Six Flags or impressive views like Reunion Tower. Sandy Lake Amusement Park, on the other hand, is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon with the family. While they have rides for older kids, I’d say it’s especially nice for younger kiddos. It’s truly a gem of Dallas activities!

The preschool group who attended the birthday party loved the simple round-and-round carnival rides, the train that goes throughout the property, and the pony rides.

Sandy Lake It’s extremely affordable. When we went it cost $2/person to get in and ride tickets were 50 cents each, with most rides costing 3-6 tickets.

Sandy Lake Overall, it was a lovely afternoon and it felt like we were getting out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Are there any hidden gems in DFW your family loves? Share them with us in the comments below!
