Summer Fun: Let’s Take This Inside

1

As mentioned in our intro to our Summer Fun Series, we are going to delve deeper into different types of activities you can do with your kids this summer in Dallas to keep you (and everyone) from going cuh-ray-zee! This week, we’re talkin’ things to do indoors (aka beautiful AC goodness).

Movies! Obviously you can pop in a DVD at home (the TV police are much more lenient in the hot summer) or head out to the theater. Aside from the dollar theaters mentioned in our first post, you can grab a $5 season pass to 10 kid-friendly movies at Hawkins Theaters (what a great deal!) in Southlake, join in on the fun at the Studio Movie Grill Children’s Summer Series, or take your little one to an Angelika Cry Baby Matinee.

Museums! The Dallas Museum of Art hosts First Tuesdays where admission is free the first Tuesday of each month from 11am-3pm. You could always splurge for a day and visit the Children’s Museum at the Museum of Nature and Science for some hands-on exploration and learning for the little ones.

Indoor Playgrounds! Take advantage of the indoor playgrounds around town with some friends. The Looney Tunes Play area at the Shops at Willowbend offers a large indoor playground complete with cushioned floors, oversized cartoon characters for climbing and bouncing, and fun summer events for the kids.

Story Times! Schedule out a rotation where you can hit up all the best story times around town! Barnes & Noble, Half Price Books, Bookmarks Library, and your local public library all offer story times for children and other programs that would be educational, fun, and free. While you’re at the book store or library, let your child pick up a new book to add to their summer reading list!

Bowl for free! Local Bowling Allies are providing kids with free bowling all summer (up to 2 games a day), check the Kids Bowl Free website to find a center near you. If Plano or Arlington is too far of a drive for you, remember this too-often-forgotten activity for your next kid outing.

Come to our Playgroup! If you haven’t joined in on one of our playgroups, you are missing out. We are meeting new moms, letting the kids burn off some energy, and exploring new places around Dallas. This summer we will be sure to meet at some indoor locations to stay cool and have some fun! Follow us on Facebook (by pressing the “like”) to get all updates on our playgroups and more!

Okay mommies, as always, I want to hear your ideas for staying cool indoors this summer!
