31st Annual GrapeFest
Location :: Downtown Grapevine
Date :: September 14-17, 2017; Thursday: 10am-10:30pm, Friday & Saturday: 10am-11:30pm, Sunday: 10am-6pm
Cost :: $8 for adults, $5 for children (6-12), ages 5 & under are free
There’s four full days of festival fun for everyone at GrapeFest. Yes, it’s *technically* a wine festival but they have made it the family-friendliest wine festival in all the land. Your kids will love the games and rides along the Carnival and Midway. And you can have interactive fun in the KidsWorld – LEGOLAND® Discovery Center’s Fun Builds, SEA LIFE Grapevine Aquarium and much more.

Addison Oktoberfest
Location :: Addison Circle Park
Date :: September 14-17, 2017; Thursday: 6-11pm, Friday: 6pm-12am, Saturday: 12pm-12am, Sunday: 12-6pm
Cost :: $10/ages 12 & up, kids under 12 free, Thursday and Sunday are FREE for all ages. Several package deals, including a kids package, available here.
Named one of the country’s most authentic Oktoberfest celebrations by Forbes and USA Today, Addison Oktoberfest features four days of traditional Bavarian music, folk dancing, sing-alongs, children’s entertainment and, of course, genuine German food and das bier. Don’t miss the Dachshund Dash on Sunday!

All Saints Fall Fest!

Cost :: FREE to attend, purchase tickets for rides and games
All Saints Fall Fest offers fun for the whole family – face painting, bounce houses, a huge silent auction with great values, food, live music, and my favorite carnival activity of all time: THE CAKE WALK. There will be plenty of delicious food and beverages, including BBQ, hamburgers, bratwurst, pizza, chili, and a beer & wine garden.

Greek Food Festival of Dallas
Location :: Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, TX 75240
Date :: September 22-24, 2017; Friday: noon-11pm, Saturday: 11am-11pm, Sunday: noon-6pm
Cost :: $6/adults, kids 12 & under are free (Food Coupons are needed)
If you’ve ever driven down Hillcrest during Greek Food Fest, you don’t need to be told how hot this event is. People are into it! 3 days of Greek food, music, dancing, and fun! Must always mention the kids area – this one has sand art & crafts, caricature artists, face painting, and more.

McKinney Oktoberfest
Location: Historic Downtown McKinney
Date: September 22-24, 2017; Friday: 4-11pm, Saturday: 10am-11pm, Sunday: noon-5pm
Cost: FREE admission, food/beverage and some activities (carnival, petting zoo, rock climbing, etc) require coupons
Dust off your lederhosen and tune up your yodel for this year’s Oktoberfest. McKinney Oktoberfest is super family-friendly, offering authentic German music, food and drink, traditional costumes, dancing, and children’s activities, spanning 14 blocks in downtown McKinney.

Southlake Oktoberfest
Location :: Southlake Town Square
Date :: October 6-8, 2017; Friday: 5-11pm, Saturday: 10am-11pm, Sunday: 12-5pm
Cost :: FREE admission and parking
Come dressed in your best lederhosen and dirndl and stay for lots of food, live music, arts and crafts vendors, and wiener dog racin’. If you happen to have a wiener dog, by all means, register for the race and costume contest!

Oak Cliff Pumpkinfest
Location :: Bishop Art’s District
Date :: October 8, 2017; 4pm -9pm
Cost :: FREE!
A neighborhood family event celebrating all things PUMPKIN! Dunk tanks, outdoor movies all evening with free popcorn, face painting, loads of games, and live music. Oh, yes, and a costume contest, if you’re the type who has your costume situation sorted this early in the month.

Family Fright Night

I’m picturing a Venn diagram with a big circle for camping and a big circle for Halloween, and this event is smack in the middle of the overlap. This popular annual family Halloween campout at Stewart Creek Park on Lake Lewisville has a haunted trail, tent trick-or-treating, costume and scream contests, a hayride, a scary movie, and s’mores (duh). Limited enrollment and it fills up quick – registration begins October 1.

Farmers Branch Halloween in the Park

Cost :: FREE admission, Haunted Hedge is $5 (rec for ages 9 and up only)
This is another family-friendly Halloween party for those who want to celebrate in a more communal way. There’s bounce houses, face painting, carnival games, and lots more. Definitely wear your costume. Check out these pics from last year’s event and get an even better feel for the vibe.

Denton’s Day of The Dead Festival
Location :: E Hickory and Industrial Street, Denton, TX
Date :: October 28, 2017; 11am-9pm

Celebrate the harvest, Dia des los Muertos, and Halloween at the family-friendly Day of The Dead Festival in Denton. Delightfully macabre and spooky but with families and kids in mind. They’ve got a pumpkin patch with crafts for the littles, a haunted house designed and run by Denton High students, a Cirque Du Horror show filled with spooky stories and performances, a Twilight Lantern Parade, and the super popular Coffin Races. Costumes encouraged!

Gateway Community Church in Wylie Trunk or Treat is Sunday October 29 from 6-8pm: hayride, inflatables, face painting, games and candy. Free for activities, food available for purchase.

Stonebridge United Methodist Church in Mckinney has a cute pumpkin patch! They are also having a Fall Festival this year on Oct. 14th from 4-7. It features, bounce houses, petting zoo, trunk or treat, food trucks, games and the Obstacle Warrior Kids mobile Course!
