best mother's day brunch in dallasMother’s Day is coming up, and we’ve rounded up ideas to help make it a fun weekend. Simply forward this article to all necessary parties with the subject line “Let’s Celebrate Me and My Contributions.” Or make the plans yourself and invite other mothers in your life. One year, a few of the moms in my family got together for brunch, leaving the menfolk behind with the kids — it was just the ticket.

While brunch is the standard way to do Mother’s Day in Dallas, we also want to point out a few activities that would make for a lovely day out:

Unique Ways to Celebrate Mom

Vintage Market Days | May 12 – 13

This McKinney event will have live music, food trucks, and two buildings filled with vintage and vintage-inspired goods, architectural salvage, and more. Once purchased, your ticket is good for re-entry into the event all weekend. Tickets from $10. Kids under 12 are free.

Mother’s Day Drag Brunch at Legacy Hall | May 13

Grab your favorite moms and head to Legacy Hall for the Mother’s Day Drag Brunch. An all-star cast of queens will move throughout the floor, putting on an unforgettable show. Your ticket includes reserved seating, a mimosa or bloody mary, and brunch from a special Mother’s Day menu. See the link for menu details and to book your spot. This always sells out, so don’t delay. Tickets are $60 per person, sold by the table. Ages 21 and up only.

Mother’s Day Market | May 13 – 14

Spend the day at the Dallas Arboretum and shop local artisans selling homemade treats. Get a family keepsake photo taken while you’re there! Included with garden admission.

Swiss Avenue Historic District Home Tour | May 13 – 14

It’s the 50th anniversary of this annual springtime event. In addition to the tour, there will be an open-air art fair, vintage auto display, a children’s play area, live entertainment in Savage Park, free horse-drawn carriage rides, food trucks, and more. Tickets $30; kids 12 and under are free.

Bagel Run 2023 | May 14

A Mother’s Day tradition the whole family can enjoy. Join the Dallas JCC for its 37th annual Bagel Run 10K, 5K, or KidsK fun run. Run or walk the scenic neighborhood course or participate virtually from wherever you prefer. Make it a themed morning by picking up bagels from Bagel Cafe 21Shug’s, or Cindi’s when you’re done!

Dallas Mother’s Day Brunch Ideas

I’ve always heard that Dallas has the most restaurants per capita in the country. Probably an urban myth, but, nevertheless, brunch options abound! Here are a few that have good food AND good aesthetics. We had to narrow things down somehow, after all.

Reservations are a MUST, obviously.

Beverly’s Bistro & Bar

Beverly’s is an upscale neighborhood bistro that would make a great ladies brunch spot for Mother’s Day. Located in Uptown (on Fitzhugh), it’s got great decor and an eclectic menu that includes French, Jewish, Spanish, and Arabic dishes. Menu here.

Chelsea Corner

Chelsea Corner in the Knox Neighborhood has a tremendous brunch menu, including a kid’s section, and a cute backyard patio area. Menu here.

Chelsea Corner features on our Top 10 Places to Host a Baby Shower in Dallas, and every restaurant on that list would also be great for Mother’s Day!

Ida Claire

Ida Claire serves fine southern cooking (all the classics) in Addison. It has a cute and casual patio, which is always a good option these days. Menu here.

Lekka

Sometimes I forget about Lekka, and that seems unfair; it’s great! Good vibes, and the seating is pretty much all patio at this North Dallas spot (formerly Obzeet, who remembers??). Have a meal and some of the famous desserts, then browse the retail side after. Menu here.

Lockwood Distilling Co.

This locally owned Richardson spot has laid-back indoor and outdoor seating areas and is located in a strip with other cute small businesses like Communion Neighborhood Cooperative and Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe. Menu here.

Mercat Bistro

Mercat Bistro is a chic spot in the Harwood District with classy European vibes. The brunch menu skews classic French, and they also offer grab-and-go pastries and such. Menu here.

Paradiso

Paradiso could not be prettier. You’ll find creative cocktails, great presentation, even delicious pizza at this Southern European-inspired Bishop Arts gem. Menu here.

And since you’ve gone to all the trouble of finding parking, do a little window shopping (or actual shopping) after your meal — just look at all the cute local shops!

Saint Ann Restaurant & Bar

Saint Ann is also in the Harwood District and has the added bonus of being right below The Samurai Collection. Their patio is consistently voted one of the best in Dallas. Menu here.

The Rustic

Let’s make things easy on ourselves and relax at The Rustic with family-style brunch (just $17.95 per person) and a big ol’ patio with lots of green space. If you’ve never been for brunch, take a look at the menu and make sure your kids will approve. Picky eaters might find it a little challenging? Menu here.

The Fifth

The Fifth is tucked away in II Creeks Plaza in Richardson. It’s a lovely little neighborhood joint — great food, great patio, great atmosphere. Menu here.

The Finch

This new-ish spot in Mockingbird Station is quite pretty, and the food is a delight! Plan ahead and book a spa treatment, pedicure, or vitamin therapy treatment (!), all of which can be found in Mockingbird Station, too. Menu here.

  1. Love this, but Lekka has actually closed. I am not sure why, they were so delicious, but the building has been stripped and the sign is gone.
