We’re Joining the Kids Krew at Hook Line & Sinker

IMG_20130827_115023A few weeks ago about 8 of the Dallas Moms Blog contributors (and almost double the children!) were invited to come out and try Hook Line & Sinker Seafood & Catfish Kitchen in Plano to collaborate on a family event to launch their new Kids Krew on Wednesday Nights.

First, let me send a huge shout out to the staff! As we slowly started trickling in with our children, I was expecting the worst. With over 10 children under the age of 5, many restaurants would get easily annoyed, rush us through our lunch, and of course, run out of highchairs, but not HL Sinker!

The cashier was extremely friendly and helpful; even with screaming, wild children in the background. The front of house staff was more than accommodating putting together table after table and grabbing highchair after highchair. And even when our food came out and they realized standing up and abandoning children would be a task, the manager quickly started refilling drinks and handing out napkins. I would have NO problem coming back here with my children any day!

(Now, I can’t say we didn’t scare off a few customers…but those poor businessmen sitting next to us just had no clue what was about to happen!)

I also have to apologize in advance. I’m new to seafood and in combination with my new diet, I played it safe and went with the Grilled Chicken Po Boy. Although I can’t personally speak on behalf of the other girls who tried the seafood items, I was pretty pleased with my decision! It was GOOD!

As I watched the other plates go by, I definitely noticed some items I think will be next on my road to seafood, like the Grilled Salmon Filet with Grilled Veggies & Rice. There was also the Hook Salad with Crisp Greens, Cucumber, Tomato, Bell Pepper, Green Onion, Olives, Capers, Cotija Cheese, Pecans & house dressing.

And if I weren’t on a diet, I would probably order a whole side order of their Hush Puppies. Forget the greasy fast food ball of cornbread that you might be used to. These are freshly made and delicious! Kids will love them!

Of course, the kids who were with us cleaned their plates! Their kids menu consists of a variety of combos that are all extremely “kid friendly!” They can choose between Shrimp, Catfish, Grilled Tilapia, and Chicken Nuggets; all of which come with a side of fries. The best part…they’re all $3.25 for a healthy portion! They will not leave hungry.

Whether your a seafood lover, seafood “experimenter” (like me!), or won’t order anything off the menu except for a cheeseburger (Yes, they have those too!), there’s something for everyone at Hook Line & Sinker!

But promise, if you walk away not eating a single thing for lunch or dinner…at least do yourself a favor and order the Key Lime Pie. The crust is To.Die.For!
