The Trains at NorthPark

Trains at NorthPark

The holidays are a magical time in Dallas, with lots of activities available for all ages. My family recently had the chance to check out the Trains at NorthPark during their media preview, and it’s now among our favorite holiday stops in Dallas!

The display — located inside NorthPark Center on Level Two near Sephora — boasts model trains rolling across 1,600 feet of track on a journey across America. Some sights along the way include downtown Dallas with the State Fair of Texas and the Cotton Bowl; New York City’s Times Square; The White House; the Grand Canyon, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

If you have a train enthusiast in your family, this is the perfect inside activity for a cold winter day.

My son loved watching all of the different trains zoom by, and pushing the “little red buttons” along the bottom of the case to see what magical thing would happen. Be on the look-out for some familiar faces, too — we were really excited to see Thomas the Tank Engine and Lightning McQueen!

Even my niece, who couldn’t care less about trains, was mesmerized by the winter scenes on display. She loved watching people ice skate in the New York cityscape and seeing the snowflakes and Christmas trees throughout the display.

You can visit the Trains at NorthPark now through January 5, 2014. Admission is $6 for adults, and $3 for children ages 2-12 and senior citizens age 65 or older. Children under 2 years are admitted free of charge. The display is open Monday through Saturday from 10 am to 9 pm, and Sunday from noon to 6 pm. Check out their website for details on early closings during the holidays.

The Trains at NorthPark benefits the Ronald McDonald House of Dallas, serving children and families across Dallas.

Have you ever been to the Trains at NorthPark?
