Rediscover Summers at Fair Park

1

Last summer when the Museum of Nature & Science and the Children’s Museum moved out of Fair Park, I was very concerned for this area of town. With the State Fair of Texas only open 1 month out of the year, it seemed like the Fair grounds were becoming more and more scarce for visitors.

Then, when the State Fair of Texas announced their big plan to help revitalize Fair Park, and I honestly couldn’t have been more excited when The State Fair partnered with Dallas Moms Blog to share a little bit of it with you! (You’ll notice it’s at the top of our 25 Family-Friendly Summer Activities “to do” list!)

Although it’s been open for a limited time since May, starting tonight, Fair Park will officially kick off Summer Adventures in Fair Park!

Anytime during the week, families are encouraged to “get away” to downtown Dallas for an island-themed adventure. With new rides and attractions and a whole calendar full of events and shows, there’s a whole weekend of fun waiting for your family in Fair Park!

The State Fair has brought all of your favorite Fair activities for you to enjoy all summer long. There are carnival rides, restaurant vendors, shows, and entertainment. Plus, some of our favorite museums are included in the admission price like the Children’s Aquarium, Texas Discovery Gardens and the Butterfly House!

Won’t it be too hot?

It’s pretty difficult to avoid the Texas Heat, but the State Fair of Texas has gone above and beyond to make guests of Summer Adventures a little cooler!

You can throw the kids into their bathing suits and spend the day going on ride after ride all for FREE with the cost of your admission. There are endless shade structures, spray misters, play pools, pop up geysers, splashy rides and water attractions! You can get a little wet on the Flow Rider–a boogie board on a wave simulator, or the Log Flume— a track ride that takes you for a splash, or choose to get a little breeze with a spin on the Love Bugs, Pirate Ship or the infamous Texas Star–North America’s largest ferris wheel!

One of my favorite new amenities is the option of renting a cabana or Airstream suite for the day. Think Vegas bed rental–only Texas style! With room for up to 12 people, your Airstream or cabana can be a great meeting place as your family comes and goes throughout the day. Plus, with a rental, you’ll enjoy a discounted admission, wait staff, 2 tables, flat screen television with DirecTV service, locker, refrigerator, complimentary bottles of water for each paid admission, private cooler fan, and the list goes on.

Sounds great, but I’ll probably spend a fortune on all the shows, rides, and food.

The beauty of Summer Adventures is that it’s one low price with unlimited fun!

For the price of admission – ONLY $29.95 per adult and $24.95 for children ages 3+ and Seniors – – you get access to an unlimited number of Summer Adventure rides (including all the water rides!), shows, Swan Boats on the Lagoon, and entrance into the Children’s Aquarium, African-American Museum, and Texas Discovery House.

Then, if you’re interested, you can load up a Summer Adventures Passport like a debt card to use on food, drinks, games, and merchandise. If you don’t use all of your debt card during your visit, feel free to bring it back with you the next time and use it again!

Tickets can either be purchased online in advance, or at the entrance to Fair Park.

Have you been to Summer Adventures yet?
