My Favorite Social Media Fitness Accounts

SUMMER BODY ALERT!! I hate to sound the alarm, but it is time, ladies. Summer is coming up QUICK, and you’ll be finding yourself in a swimsuit in no time. If you’re like me, you are squishier than you hoped you’d be at this point. Never fear, busting your tail at the gym and eating next to nothing doesn’t have to be your only mode of getting in better shape. Social media is riddled with fitness accounts these days, and some of the best ones can actually help give you great tips and workout routines that you can do from home. Here are some of my top follows:

Body Fit by Amy

This is my top follow of all time. I follow her on Instagram, but the best part of her online community, in my opinion, is found on her YouTube channel. She has a huge variety of workout routines available for free. She is a mom, and currently pregnant, so she has an entire section of videos dedicated to each trimester of pregnancy. When I am in a funk and really don’t know what strength training activities I want to do, I default to her channel and instantly get TONS of great ideas!

Homeworkouts_4u

This Instagram account is solely for ideas for working out at home. There are a few videos where small equipment is needed, like workout bands or hand weights. I really enjoy seeing moms incorporate their kids into their workouts. If your kids are at home when you’re trying to fit in a workout, odds are they won’t be leaving you alone for long. These ideas help to get EVERYONE involved in the workout fun!

Women’s Health

You know, like the magazine. But this one is the digital version. This account is encouraging to me and doesn’t just focus on workout ideas. There are all kinds of women’s health issues represented, and I garner more encouragement from this account than anything. I have saved tasty recipes, read articles about overall women’s health, cleaned up my snacking, and perfected some of my yoga moves, all from tips off this account.

Yoga with Adriene

I am still amazed at all of the free content available on YouTube these days, and Adriene’s page is one of the very best! I fell in love with yoga when I was pregnant with my son. However, I don’t LOVE yoga studio prices and can hardly find time to get away to attend a class. Insert FREE YOGA CLASSES AT HOME here. She has all stages of yoga represented and even has different yoga challenges. She has yoga for weight loss, yoga while traveling, tips for perfecting different yoga poses, yoga for beginners, etc. I would challenge you to try one of her 30-day yoga challenges in the mornings if you can. I try to do a 30-day challenge once a quarter.

Melissa Hartwig (creator of Whole30)

Okay, let me preface by saying this: her workouts are insane, and I am completely in awe every time she posts a video of herself in the gym. HOWEVER, I am challenged by her strength and flexibility. She has encouraged me to get more serious about working on my flexibility and incorporating more yoga in my actual strength training routine. She also lives in Utah and hikes in the most gorgeous places. Plus, she created Whole30 so if you want great ideas on clean, whole eating—she’s the expert!

There you go! Hopefully these social media accounts will be interesting enough for you to start following. Once you start seeing them pop up in your feed, I know you’ll be encouraged to change it up and do some workouts in the comfort of your own home!
